Recognition of 50 Years of Montessori Work
I first began explaining Montessori in 1971, and through my school newsletter that helped families of my students understand the essence of Montessori. I have continued to write and speak, based on personal experience, since that time. Here is a quote from the  book on observation and record keeping for the primary and elementary class, Please Help Me Do It Myself:

Rather than focusing first of all on the academic work in class, when I had a meeting with parents, I showed the parents the concentration graphs for their child. This kept the focus on the value of their child learning to independently choose work, to experience deeper and longer periods of concentration, and the positive results of this experience.

I found that this was an excellent way for parents not only to begin to understand Montessori, but to look for, and hesitate to interrupt, their child’s concentration at home.

Montessori Work in Ecuador and Galapagos, Fall 2019

THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS, A TINY SCHOOL IN THE RAINFOREST, AND A WORKSHOP IN QUITO
This was a dream-come-true trip. In my work in Colombia I always hoped that somehow I would make it to the Galapagos Islands. I was so pleased to find that my Montessori friends in Colombia and Ecuador made this possible.

Thanks to movies about Charles Darwin, and reading his books over the years, the Galapagos, the island group owned by Ecuador, has always been on of the last places on my bucket list to visit. I found that there is plenty of Montessori work needed in Quito and environs AND on the islands! Here I will share just a little bit about both. Continue reading

Montessori Work in Lima, Peru — Fall 2019

Montessori Work, and the Culture of Peru
For five weeks this fall I have had the pleasure to carry out Montessori work and to visit old friends, and make new ones, in Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador. I hope you enjoying “traveling” with me to Lima, Peru.

The tropical fruit always available is something I always look forward to but the main reason for this trip was that finally one of my books has been translated into Spanish.
