AMI Annual Global Meeting 2023 and San Francisco Infant Community

In April the first in-person AGM since the Covid epidemic was held in Delft, Netherlands. Here are just a few of the highlights of the focus on “Sowing Seeds” projects around the world seen by 250 people from 50 different countries.

The first day was sunny and beautiful, people seated outside the cafes and restaurants. Above you can see Catalina Ivan(the picture taken by her husband) from Romania, and Joanne Kaya, a Welsh Montessori teacher I met in Moscow years ago, and with whom I am staying this week in a village nearby. On the Road Again

October 1, 2022 – Finally back to in-person work! (post-Covid)
Let me begin by one of my favorite moments of this trip to the East Coast of the United States, discovering a bagpiper while exploring the neighborhood.

For the last few days I have been staying at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell working with a Montessori school. Not usually working in the USA it is a special treat that my phone works here! Montessori in Hawaii – and The Chicago Cubs

For five days at the beginning of this month I consulted in a lovely Montessori school in Hawaii that began 40 years ago in a little Quonset hut with many of the problems of the tropics that I will not go into (like rats). Today it is one of the loveliest campuses I have ever seen and serves 171 children from Infant Community through middle school.

Since I must resist the impulse to interact with, to bond with (and then leave), the younger children when consulting, it was a pleasure to get to spend some time with the 12-15-year-olds, sharing what I have learned about this age in many countries, and to witness their excitement as they plan their trip to our nation’s capital, their volunteer work, their plans for the garden, and so much more.
